About TradeMind

TradeMind: Quant Math Prep is free, independent practice for quant trading interviews, including Optiver-style 80-in-8 and CTC-style online assessments. It includes free browser simulators on this site and an iOS/macOS app. This page explains how the questions are built and who to contact if something looks wrong.

What TradeMind is

TradeMind is a practice tool for the online assessments and interviews that quant trading and prop trading firms run: mental math speed tests, number-sequence and probability drills, EV-judgment games, and full multi-section online-assessment simulations. How the questions are generated

Nothing on TradeMind is scraped or copied from an official, live, or confidential firm assessment. Every question, from the 80-in-8 mental math format to the CTC-style numerical, spatial, verbal, and logic mix, comes from a question generator. The generator builds a question from a template family, computes the correct answer in code (no one transcribes it by hand), and adds plausible wrong options. The web generators are direct TypeScript ports of the generators in the iOS/macOS app, so format, timing, and scoring rules match on both.

An automated script runs each generator at volume and checks four things: no duplicate answer options, valid answer indices, attention-to-detail questions whose stated match count agrees with their own prompt, and spatial-reasoning distractors that aren't visually identical to the correct answer once rotational symmetry is accounted for. It has caught bugs before release, including rotation-pattern questions whose distractors rendered identically to the answer for certain side/step combinations. The script catches mistakes; it does not make the questions error-proof. If something looks wrong, emailing us is the fastest way to get it fixed (see below).

What TradeMind is not

It is not a leaked or licensed copy of any firm's test, and no one at Optiver, CTC, or any other firm named on this site built or reviewed it. Firm names are used only to describe the publicly reported style of a format (timing, scoring, and question mix), because that is how candidates search for and talk about this kind of practice. Firms don't publish official pass marks, and neither does TradeMind. Any number shown is labelled with its source, for example: Candidate-reported practice benchmark: ~60 net (not an official cutoff).

Who's behind it

TradeMind is built and run by a small independent team, listed as "TradeMind Team" on the App Store and in the Privacy Policy. The web tools on trademindapp.com and the iOS/macOS app are maintained together as one product. If you run a university trading or quant society, the Partners page explains free access for your members.
